AWS Developer
● Test-First Feature Delivery: Develop high-performance services using Node.js/TypeScript and Lambda alongside the automated tests that prove them.
Collaborate with AI agents to refine plans, generate test cases from specs, and validate generated code against acceptance criteria.
● Integrated Testing: Own the integrated test suite — Jest unit tests, API/integration
tests, and end-to-end checks — and use AI to broaden coverage while keeping the
suite fast and stable.
Ensure backend data and UI outputs are continuously
verified together.
● Test Strategy & Pyramid: Shape and maintain the team's test pyramid.
Decide what gets
unit-tested, contract-tested, integration-tested, or covered end-to-end, and
keep that balance healthy as the codebase grows.
● Operational Excellence: Provide 3rd-line support (08:00–18:00 UK) using CloudWatch Logs for root cause analysis, assisting DLQ message recovery, and triaging flaky tests when they surface.
● Environment & Test Data Management: Manage feature flags in LaunchDarkly, support multi-environment deployments, and curate test data so suites run reliably across environments.
Qualifications
● Programming: Strong proficiency in JavaScript/TypeScript and Node.js.
● Cloud Proficiency: Practical experience with S3, Lambda, DynamoDB, SQS, EventBridge; enough VPC/IAM knowledge to provision and tear down test environments.
● Testing (primary): Strong experience designing test strategies across the test pyramid (unit → integration → end-to-end) — unit (Jest), integration, contract (e.g. Pact), and end-to-end. Practical exposure to performance/load testing, mocking/stubbing patterns, test data management, coverage reporting, and integrating tests into CI to fail fast and stay stable.
● AI Tooling: Familiarity with using AI coding assistants to break down problems, generate test cases and stubs, and iterate on both code and test generation.
Soft Skills & Values
● Attention to Detail: Meticulous approach to verifying data and logs.
● Flexibility: Willingness to handle occasional out-of-hours incidents as part of the "You Build It, You Run It" model.
