Senior z/OS Systems Engineer

• Administering and supporting z/OS operating systems and related subsystems in production environments.

• Managing, configuring, and troubleshooting CICS regions, resources, and runtime environments.

• Implementing and maintaining TLS and enterprise encryption capabilities across z/OS components.

• Supporting ICSF (Integrated Cryptographic Service Facility) operations, including key lifecycle management and cryptographic services.

• Monitoring system performance and proactively resolving issues to maintain high availability using tools like BMC MainView, BMC Datastream, and Dynatrace.

• Analyzing system logs, dumps, and diagnostics to troubleshoot and resolve complex technical issues.

• Participating in system upgrades, patching, and maintenance activities with minimal disruption to operations.

• Collaborating with application, security, cloud, and infrastructure teams in hybrid z/OS and cloud environments.

Qualifications

Must Have

• Availability to work nightshift hours (flexible scheduling).

• 5 to 8 years of hands-on experience supporting z/OS systems in a production environment.

• Strong knowledge of CICS configuration, performance tuning, and troubleshooting.

• Experience with TLS, encryption protocols, and secure communications on z/OS.

• Hands-on experience with ICSF, cryptographic services, and key management.

• Strong diagnostic skills using system logs, dumps, and IBM tools.

Strong Advantage

• Experience with JES2, VTAM, TCP/IP stack configuration, or related z/OS subsystems.

• Familiarity with RACF or other enterprise security and access control tools.

• Experience with SMP/E, system upgrades, and formal maintenance processes.

• Knowledge of automation tools such as REXX or z/OS scripting frameworks.

Nice to Have

• Experience with DevOps tooling such as Ansible, Git, or Jenkins in hybrid environments.

• Exposure to hybrid integration patterns between z/OS and cloud platforms.

• Experience supporting USS, Java, or Python runtime environments on z/OS.
